Doctors and nurses at the University Hospital of Rio, Patras, celebrated the recovery of an eight-year-old boy with Covid-19 who developed symptoms similar to those of the rare inflammatory Kawasaki-like disease.

He was transferred to the paediatric ward on Thursday.

But before he left, the little boy received a gift from the doctors and nurses, as he had told them that he wanted to become an astronaut.

“To remember his first victory, the victory of life”, Dr Andreas Iliadis, an intensive care specialist in the paediatric clinic told thebest.gr.

“Another small victory. Let no one be afraid as long as our nurses and doctors have real love for their work,” he said, adding “In the gloom of our times, let this small victory be a small Christmas present for all of us.”

The country is currently in lockdown 2.0 which is scheduled to end on January 7, 2021. Schools, courts, restaurants, bars, cafes, entertainment, sports are among those that will closed until that date.
