Cypriot Foreign Minister Indian Nikos Christodoulides spoke with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar today.
In a Tweet, Jaishankar said:
"A warm virtual meeting with Foreign Minister Nikos Christodulides of Cyprus. [We] reaffirmed our deep and historical friendship," he said.
"[We] reviewed our bilateral cooperation and discussed major regional and global developments. Conversation reflected our shared perspectives," he added.
Relations between India and Cyprus, as well as India and Greece, have greatly improved in the past year.
This is largely in response to the bilateral hostile actions of Turkey and Pakistan against Greece, Cyprus and India, but these new relations have the prospects to incorporate culture, tourism, technology, economy and military.
Last month, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said "Given the political geography of the region and the influence of Turkey in some countries, it is a fact that on many issues of international interest, our positions are identical with those of India."
Last year, Jaishankar said that India considers Greece as a “strategic partner” with which she connects a “long-term friendship”.
