Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) that is in a ruling coalition with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), expressed fury after Joe Biden’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

He, like most Turkish media, is in a long delirium on social media and speaks of a “scandal” about the U.S. recognition of the Armenian Genocide and calls for Turkey to move away from the North American country.

“The Nationalist Movement Party completely rejects the so-called genocide accusation and condemns the President of the United States who made this accusation,” he said on Twitter.

“Biden’s genocide statement is null and void, but also political folly and immorality,” the party leader continued, adding: “A crossroad has been reached with a country known as an ally.”

In another tweet, Bahçeli said “Biden’s description crippled by scandal, and then Turkey-U.S. relations, are at risk of skidding to completely different mediums. ”

“With a mindset that tries to cast a genocide shadow into a country with which it has established friendship and strategic ties, it is probable that nothing will be the same as before,” he added.
