By 3 years ago

Shipping & Island Policy Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis signed a contract on Friday to acquire five new patrol boats with representatives of the contractor, Norsafe.

The patrol boats will cost 2,497,500 euros and will be partly funded by Greek business programs for Attica, the Ionian Islands, and Eastern Macedonia & Thrace regions for 2014-2020, as well as by the public investments program.

The Coast Guard boats will be built in Greece by Viking Norsafe Life-Saving Equipment Hellas SA on specs by the Port Authority/Coast Guard and with contributions by the emergency ambulance service EKAV and the health service of the ministry.

The vessels will be distributed to the Sporades Islands, Samothrace, the Argosaronic Gulf and the Ionian Islands to transport patients to hospitals.
