The President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, thanked all the countries that are helping Greece in its firefighting efforts via social media posts overnight in both Greek and English.
“During these critical times that Greece goes through we are not alone. Many countries stand effectively by our side offering human and other resources, help and support. We warmly thank them for their solidarity! ” said the President.
“On behalf of the Greek people, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the countries that have sent assistance and resources to help fight the wildfires. We thank you for standing by Greece during these trying times.” said the Greek Prime Minister who also added a graphic illustrating the type of support offered by each country.
Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had also expressed his gratitude two days ago and thanked all friends and allies for their support and solidarity during these trying times for the country.
“Deeply moved by the thoughtful messages and gestures of solidarity from Egypt, Armenia, Belgium, France, Georgia, the European Union, the United States, Jordan, Israel, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Lebanon, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Turkey and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew,” he said said via Twitter.
“Our utmost gratitude to all those providing support to Greece in battling wildfires,” the foreign minister said.
