Firefighters from many countries of the European Union are on Greek soil to assist in the effort to extinguish the devastating fires, including in Gortynia.
Their forces have been distributed across the country according to the needs on the fire fronts.
The French firefighters are in Gortynia, where they fight with the flames which are located between Ilia and Arcadia, burning whatever they find in their path.
Passing through the town, the French firefighters were warmly welcomed with the residents coming out of their shops and applauding them.
