After getting elected on a promise of tax cuts, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his government have instead “brought a sharp reduction in the income of citizens and their purchasing power,” SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance’s Efi Achtsioglou said.

The head of finance issues for main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance commented on the Thessaloniki-based radio station Flash 99.4 on Monday about the government’s inertia in the face of galloping price rises for goods.

Similarly, she added, the prime minister had promised security but instead “we experienced a situation of extreme crime, he promised efficiency and we experienced an extreme ineptitude of the state in the face of natural disasters.”

Commenting on the upcoming Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and Mitsotakis’ speech, she said that he would be arriving “politically wounded” due to the damage from the government’s management of the pandemic and the fires.

She also accused the prime minister of misleading Greek voters and said that the plan with the EU not only failed to include tax cuts but also pledged to stop all relief measures taken during the pandemic.
