October 16th, 1912 - The Liberation of Veria

The town of Veria in Macedonia, was a major hub of Greek Nationalism and Patriotism in the region during Ottoman Occupation.

It played a significant role in assisting during the Greek War of Independence. Supplying men as well as producing several fine Military Leaders for the Revolution.

Like much of Macedonia and Northern Greece it had to wait a further 80 years for Independence.

It would come on the 16th of October 1912. The Hellenic Army entered and Liberated the town from the Turks, once again bringing it under Greek control.
