Vatican sources have confirmed that Pope Francis will be visiting Cyprus on December 2nd and 3rd and then will visit Greece until December 5th.
The Pope’s visit to Lesvos is expected to take place on December 4, which he strongly desires following his trip to the island during his 2016 visit. The Vatican, however, has not yet announced the official travel schedule.
According to sources, Pope Francis is expected to have a busy schedule during his Greek visit with multiple meetings, including with Archbishop Ieronymos, the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and with Catholics living in Greece.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis canceled his scheduled visit to Malta and Glasgow, where the international climate summit will be held. Despite his relatively recent recovery from stomach surgery, he wanted to keep his promise to visit Greece and Cyprus.
