Erdoğan: “We will come suddenly one night” is a nightmare of our enemies

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan persists on his incendiary rhetoric, addressing mainly the domestic political audience of Turkey after the answers he received from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Prague summit.

The latest outburst was his references to the cabinet meeting on Monday in which he not only returned to the fake news about Greece’s hostile behaviour, but also used the phrase “we will come suddenly one night”, a slogan made before Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974.

The president of Turkey claimed, in fact, that “our warning that we would come suddenly one night became the nightmare of our enemies.”

As SKAI reported, Erdoğan said, among other things, “we assessed the internal and external threats at the National Security Council meeting. We reaffirmed our position regarding the hostile attitudes shown against our country, particularly leveraged Greece.”

“Our phrase ‘we will come suddenly one night’ has become the nightmare of terrorist organisations, but also of all those who have enmity against our country and we carry out the obligations of this proposal to the letter.”

Erdoğan first emphasised that “on Thursday, we represented Turkey at the summit held in Prague with the participation of heads of state and government of 44 European countries. In this context, we discussed global issues, including the future, security and prosperity of Europe.”

“We saw that our country’s balanced stance was appreciated, especially its mediating role in the Russia-Ukraine war. In Prague, we said that we want to solve the problems of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean within the framework of international law.

“We declared once again the hostile attitude displayed against our country by Greece.”
