Twins Thomi and Chrysa Plakias and their first cousin Anastasia lost their lives in the tragedy of the passenger train with the freight train in Tempi late Tuesday night.
DNA had to be used to identify the bodies as they were so badly burnt due to temperatures in the first carriage that reached 1,300 Celsius.
The twenty-year-olds had been studying in Thessaloniki for a while now and at the carnival weekend they decided to spend it with their families in their place of origin.
The twin sisters Thomi and Chrysa Plakias and their first cousin Anastasia Plakias were on board the fateful train and unfortunately, all three lost their lives in the fatal accident.
Their parents Nikos and Dimitris Plakias, owners of the well-known tavern "Gardenia" in Kastraki, as soon as they heard the news about the accident went immediately to Larissa where unfortunately after endless hours of agony they had to give DNA to show that the three bodies belong to the young girls.
The two brothers are well known in the sports world of Thessaly, as Nikos was for many years the captain and "ten" of the team of "Vrachos" and Dimitris was the agent of the same team.
