The US Applauds Greece and Turkiye’s Commitment to Cooperation

The United States Department of State welcomes the upcoming High-level Cooperation Council meeting between Greece and Turkiye, scheduled to take place in Athens. This dialogue between our NATO allies is a positive step towards fostering peace, security, and prosperity in the region.

“We firmly believe in the power of bilateral discussions at all levels to address shared challenges and build a more stable future for the eastern Mediterranean,” a State Department spokesperson stated. “The United States encourages Greece and Turkiye to continue engaging in constructive dialogue and to work together on areas of mutual interest.”

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of maintaining calm in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean: “As vital allies within the NATO alliance, both Greece and Turkiye play a crucial role in regional stability. We urge both sides to prioritize peaceful solutions and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions.”

The United States stands ready to support Greece and Turkiye in improving bilateral relations and contributing to a more peaceful and prosperous eastern Mediterranean.
