The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) has released preliminary findings from its survey on "Road Traffic Accidents," shedding light on concerning trends in road safety for February 2024. According to the data, road traffic accidents in Greece resulting in death or injury surged by 17.2% compared to the same month in 2023, with 783 incidents recorded in February 2024 compared to 668 in February 2023.
The casualties stemming from these injury-causing accidents paint a grim picture of the toll on human lives and well-being. In February 2024, the accidents resulted in 38 fatalities, 31 serious injuries, and 887 slight injuries. Contrasted with the figures from February 2023, which stood at 33 deaths, 30 serious injuries, and 749 slight injuries, the data indicates a notable increase of 15.2% in deaths, 3.3% in serious injuries, and 18.4% in slight injuries.
