Hydra, Greece – Prominent Kazakh businessman Daniyar Abulgazin has issued a statement addressing recent allegations linking him and his guests to the wildfire on the Greek island of Hydra. Abulgazin emphatically denied any involvement and provided a detailed account of his activities during the period in question.

“I am very saddened by the fire on the Greek island of Hydra,” Abulgazin began, expressing his deep concern for the incident. He clarified that he had rented the yacht “Persefoni I” from June 15 to June 22, 2024, for a cruise around the Greek islands.

According to Abulgazin, he and his guests adhered to all safety protocols and fire safety rules while on the yacht. He emphasized that before their scheduled departure on June 22, they had communicated with Greek authorities, who did not raise any issues or claims against them regarding the wildfire. As a result, they proceeded with their planned itinerary. It was also noted that some guests had already departed on the morning of June 21.

“We were surprised to learn of the subsequent allegations made in the press upon our return and categorically deny any wrongdoing,” Abulgazin stated. He firmly asserted that neither he nor his guests engaged in any activities that could have caused the fire. “We strictly followed the fire safety rules established on the yacht. Neither I nor my guests asked the crew of the yacht or any other third parties to take any actions that could lead to a fire.”

Abulgazin highlighted his commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, stating, “We always adhere to all necessary safety measures and strictly follow laws and regulations to avoid such incidents. We will cooperate with the Greek authorities in their ongoing investigation.”

He concluded his statement by noting that, given the ongoing investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment or speculate further at this time.

The wildfire on Hydra has generated significant concern, prompting an investigation to determine its cause and identify any responsible parties. Abulgazin’s statement aims to clarify his position and assure cooperation with authorities as the investigation continues.
