Omer Celik, spokesperson for Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s party, has expressed his concerns regarding Netflix’s announcement that the series “Famagusta” will be available from September 20.

“It is extremely worrying that a series distorting the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and spreading propaganda for the Greek side will be broadcast on a cinematic platform starting September 20,” he wrote.

In detail, his post reads:

“The fact that a series distorting the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and propagating the Greek Cypriot side will be broadcast on a cinematic platform from September 20 is very concerning.

We cannot accept that the operation that brought peace and established justice is being targeted by Greek propaganda.

The Cyprus Peace Operation, the heroic Turkish soldier, peace, and justice cannot be targeted through this series.”
