There are not many high-level hotels operating on the island of Evia, and the new hotel by Xeromylos Resort aspires to host tourists from other countries, aims to upgrade tourist services and infrastructure in the wider area.
This is emphasised in the file for the project of the new 5-star resort in Xeromylos, Evia, a destination that, although it offers very easy access, has lagged behind compared to other tourist destinations throughout Greece.
Based on the latest official data from the Hotel Chamber of Greece, at the end of 2023 the regional unit of Evia which also includes Skyros had only two 5-star units with a capacity of 216 rooms and 438 beds in a total of 208 units specifically for Evia, with 7,831 rooms and 15,552 beds. Half of the hotels in the area, i.e., a total of 104 units, are in the 2-star category with a total number of 2,657, while the 4-star category concerns 23 units and 2,268 rooms.
Now, the hotel project of the "Xeromylos RESORT AE" company, which has been put up for public consultation until the beginning of December, includes the creation of a 5-star hotel unit with 190 beds.
"Xeromylos RESORT SA," with a share capital of 3.4 million euros, is associated with Mr Stavros Kyriakos, also known for his business activity through the screw-metallurgy VIDOMET ABEE in Evia. Mr. Kyriakos is the president of the company, while Mrs. Anastasia Kyriakou is the managing director.
Regarding the project itself, the new tourist accommodation is located in the "Xeromylos" location of the municipality of Kymi Aliveri.
As planned based on the design, the project, when completed, will include 78 rooms on an area of 54 acres by the sea, with a frontage of about 200 metres on a sandy beach. The area is located in eastern Evia and is 2.5 kilometres from Agoi Apostoloi, a village and port.
The architectural study concerns the configuration of a classic 5* hotel, 190 beds, with bungalow-type rooms with swimming pools, a central restaurant and bar, a central pool, a central building, reception, wellness centre and conference rooms for hosting events, swimming pool, restaurant building and beach bar and landscaping.
The room complexes are two-story and single-story and are arranged so that they all have an unobstructed view of the sea, following the relief of the ground.
There are three types of rooms: double, triple, and villas, which have outdoor spaces in courtyards or terraces, while some rooms have private pools.
In addition, as stated in the Environmental Impact Study file accompanying the project, which is under consultation until December 2, only electric vehicles will be driven within the complex.
