The stone chapel of Agiou Pnefmato (Holy Spirit), an impressive structure made entirely of river stones, stands as a silent witness to human creativity and faith.
An architectural gem in nature
The small church is located in an area of exceptional natural beauty, just a few metres from the large arched bridge of Dipotami and the single-arched bridge of Arkudoremos.
The area, which was once a point of connection between the settlements of Dipotami and Trachoni, today offers visitors a unique experience of meeting nature with human creation.
The unique construction
The Agiou Pnefmato chapel stands out because of its special construction. It is a true work of art built entirely of river stones from the surrounding area. Each stone has been placed carefully.
Art in every detail
The chapel's peculiarity is not limited only to its construction. Many stones bear artistic interventions: some are engraved, while others are painted, creating a series of original depictions of saints.
The interior of the chapel is equally impressive. Every surface is covered with images, offering the visitor a unique visual experience.
The initiators of the project
Behind this impressive project are two twin brothers, Kostas and Vassilis Ioannidis, residents of the wider area. With passion and dedication, the Ioannidis brothers devoted time and effort to creating this unique monument.
Spirituality beyond the material
An interesting element that reflects the creators' philosophy is the inscription: "Please do not leave money." This move underlines the spiritual nature of the venture, which is far from financial considerations.
A unique destination for visitors
The Chapel of the Holy Spirit is a special destination throughout the year. Its unique appearance and special location make it an attraction that is hard to miss, either by pilgrims or by nature explorers.
For those in the Paranesti area, a stop at the Chapel of Agiou Pnefmato offers a unique opportunity to admire a remarkable example of contemporary folk art and religious devotion harmoniously integrated into the area's enchanting natural landscape.
