Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou called the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X to exchange Christmas greetings and expressed her solidarity with the Patriarchate during the difficult conditions prevailing in the region.

During the conversation, Sakellaropoulou conveyed the Greek people’s well wishes for the new year and underlined Greece’s support for the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch.

She expressed the hope that the holidays and the new year will bring peace and prosperity to Syria and Lebanon despite the ongoing challenges facing the countries of the region.

For his part, Patriarch John X warmly thanked the President for her support and sensitivity.

He noted the deep historical ties connecting the Church of Antioch with the Greek people and expressed his hope that the new year would bring blessings to the Greek government and the Greek people.
