By 6 years ago

Greek Australians of Business and Industry (GABI) are holding their end of year Cocktail Party this week in Sydney, which is set to be a great evening, where guests will be able to network and mingle.

They will also be given the opportunity to hear an inspirational presentation by popular guest speaker Tom Panos, who is a weekly commentator for Sky Business weekly, commentator on 2GB and News Corp Australia Real Estate Ambassador. Tom is also the founder of the Real Estate Gym, one of Sydney’s leading auctioneers and a two time cancer survivor, who has taken the stage alongside Richard Branson and Arnold Schwarzenegger, delivering memorable speeches that have inspired thousands of people worldwide.

The stand up event, will also include much loved Greek Australian entertainer Mary Coustas, as MC for the evening and proceeds will be going towards blood cancer research.

GABI, which formed in 2016, already has a support base of over 2,000 individuals from small to large corporate businesses across Australia. This is a non-for profit organisation, which provides a networking platform for its guests where like-minded people, both of Greek and non-Greek heritage, can meet to exchange ideas and provide support for one another.

The organisation has been extremely busy this year, holding regular networking events, including a Women in Leadership focused luncheon in September, which was held in conjunction with the Hellenic Club of Sydney, with prominent guest speakers, including Angela Mentis, Chief Customer Officer of Business and Private Banking at NAB, Angela Vithoulkas, City of Sydney Councillor and Lydia Serafim, AMP Capital.

Furthermore, on November 13th, GABI alongside The Hellenic Club Sydney together with the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, hosted a private dinner with H.E. Mr Dimitris Papadimitriou, Minister of Economy and Development in Greece with support from Enterprise Greece. The purpose of this dinner was for the Minster to roadshow the “turning point of Greece” with the specific topic of “Investing in Greece”, the presentation was then followed by a roundtable discussion forum. Special guests included Nick Politis AM, Australian businessman and Chairman of Sydney-based NRL team the Sydney Roosters and Gina Reinhardt, Australian mining magnate.

“With the end of the year approaching, it's time we reflect on our achievements and look back on all the networking opportunities GABI has offered to our fellow Greek and non-Greek Australians. We look forward to celebrating these achievements with you at our end of year cocktail function," said President of GABI, Bill Fatouros.

The event will also include light refreshments served throughout the evening, featuring canapés specially prepared by Alpha Restaurant and Beta Bar Executive Chef, Peter Conistis.

Proceeds from the night will be donated to the Sydney Blood Research group, lead by Professor Stephen Larsen at the University of Sydney, which is dedicated to further deepening the understanding of blood cancer and advancing research to help find a cure. The team undertakes traditional research with the ultimate aim of improving patient care and treatment outcomes.
