Grecian Air to launch seaplane flights in September

Grecian Air Seaplanes, a new seaplane operator, will launch flights in early September, interconnecting Greek islands and lakeside areas both with the mainland and between them.

According to the announcement, the company plans to start flights with three 19-seater seaplanes from the Ionian Sea, where the first licensed waterways are located.

The company will gradually expand its routes to other island regions – the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, Crete, the Northeastern Aegean, the Sporades islands and the Saronic Gulf.

The fleet will consist of privately owned and leased planes. The purchase cost of each seaplane is €7 million.

Investors include Greek Water Airports President Anastasios Govas and Axionair.

“Once fully developed, the project will exceed 100 million euros. We connect Greece and develop a new tourism product for the country,” said Axionair shareholder Dimitris Babakos.

The new seaplane operator will offer scheduled and chartered flights, medical transport, tours and cargo services.
