Important perspectives on strengthening the bilateral business relations between Greece and India were the subject of a Thursday meeting organised by the Embassy of India with the support of the Hellenic Investment and Foreign Trade Company (Enterprise Greece).
With the central theme "India-Greece Cooperation to Promote Bilateral Trade and Investment Opportunities", the meeting focused on areas of common interest.
Particularly emphasis was placed on exports and investments, such as food and beverages, industrial products, consumer products, etc. and exploring opportunities in technology, tourism, jewellery, etc.

According to an announcement, the meeting was a prelude to the 8th Joint Inter-ministerial Committee that will be organised in Athens in April and in which India will be represented by a multi-member delegation.
The event was hosted by Indian Ambassador Amrit Lugun, who referred to the traditional long-term ties of the two countries and the possibilities of their further development.
He made special mention of India's participation as an "honoured country" at the 84th Thessaloniki International Fair in 2019, in which he was represented by a business delegation headed by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri.

The excellent level of relations between the two countries was praised by the CEO of Enterprise Greece, Georgios Filiopoulos.
He said: "India and Greece have an excellent relationship, which is further strengthened by such meetings.
"With the second largest population in the world and an ever-growing middle class, India is an important market for Greek companies and a priority for Enterprise Greece.
"Greece, like India, has a highly educated workforce with a high percentage of scientists, engineers and doctors and is emerging as a hub of technology and innovation in Southeast Europe.
"This opens up opportunities for further cooperation in new areas, such as research and innovation and we are very pleased to see that here today."
Filiopoulos also stated that during the forthcoming Indian business mission, Enterprise Greece will sign Cooperation Agreements (MoU) with the Indian Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Invest India.
This is with the aim of further development of the trade relationship between the two countries.
