"11-Year-Old Greek Prodigy Evangelia Siskou Crowned Chess World Champion in Girls' Under-13 Category"

By 1 year ago

Evangelia Siskou, an 11-year-old from Thessaloniki, won the chess world championship in the girls' under-13 category in Rhodes over the weekend.

She won seven out of nine matches, drew one, and lost one, outperforming 34 other young competitors and claiming the top spot on the winners' podium.

This remarkable achievement confirms her steady ascent up the global chess rankings, which began when she won bronze for girls under-10 in the World Individual Championship in November 2022. Siskou, who belongs to the "Galaxia" club in Thessaloniki, now holds the third rank globally in her age group.
