Russian Cultural Centre in Nicosia ablaze, reports of Molotov cocktail attack (VIDEO)

A fire broke out at the Russian Cultural Centre in Nicosia on Wednesday afternoon, with some reports suggesting the blaze was started by a thrown Molotov cocktail. The Fire Service immediately responded with five fire engines, including an aerial ladder.

According to the spokesperson for the Force, the entire roof was engulfed in flames.

However, the situation was manageable, and the Fire Department’s press representative, Andreas Kettis, reported that access was made to the roof of the building to fully extinguish the fire, as well as to extinguish small fires inside.

Mr. Kettis added that the fire had been contained. Oxygen cylinders used for work were also safely transported outside.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and an investigation is underway.
