50 Great Greek Wines: The wines from Santorini that distinguished themselves

Eight wines from four Santorini wineries are included in this year's list of 50 Great Greek Wines, which was revealed during the award ceremony that took place a few days ago (20/10) in Athens. It was preceded by blind tastings by the seven-member competition committee, which was composed of international wine experts, all Masters of Wine.

The 50 Great Greek Wines are announced alphabetically, without their ranking being announced. Among them, Santorini is represented by the following:

– Argyrou Estate: Santorini Cuvée Evdemon 2017
– Artemi Karamolegou Winery: Santorini Kamaras 2020
– Artemi Karamolegou Winery: Santorini Pyritis 2020 – Gavala Winery:
Santorini 2022
– Gavala Winery: Santorini Natural Ferment 2022 –
Mikra Thira: Nych teri 2020
– Mikra Thira: Santorini 2021
– Mikra Thira: TerraSea 2021

It is noted that the Santorini Cuvée Evdemon of the Argyros Estate has joined the Hall of Fame of the competition, as it has been distinguished for the third year in a row, "which shows stability and the constant pursuit of excellence", according to the organizers.

Finally, apart from the main list, the five wines that stood out in 16 main categories were announced - in order of ranking - regardless of whether they are included in the 50 GGW. And there, in the Assyrtiko and Sweet wine categories , the presence of Santorinian wines is strong.
