During her visit to Alexandria today, the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, held talks with Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II, at the Patriarchate.
President Sakellaropoulou commended the Patriarch's dedication to his spiritual leadership role in Africa amid various challenges. She also acknowledged the Patriarchate's efforts in fostering positive relations with Egypt, expressing the Greek state's appreciation.
In recognition of her visit and diplomatic efforts, President Sakellaropoulou was honoured with the highest distinction of the Throne, the Grand Cross of Saint Mark with Star, by Pope and Patriarch Theodore II.
The meeting took place in the presence of Metropolitan of Ptolemais and Upper Egypt Panteleimon, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, who welcomed President Sakellaropoulou at the Patriarchate.
