Greek Public Sector Strike Planned in Support of LARCO Workers

The Confederation of Civil Servants (ADEDY) has announced a work stoppage on Thursday, June 20th, in solidarity with striking employees of the Hellenic Lignite Center (LARCO).

The strike will affect public sector workers in Attica and Central Greece, starting at 11:00 am and lasting until the end of the workday. ADEDY is demanding the government withdraw its proposed amendment regarding LARCO's future and the immediate renewal of all employee contracts.

"We join our voices with the LARCO workers in their unions' rally on Thursday, June 20th, at 12:00 noon in Syntagma Square," ADEDY stated in a press release.

This action highlights the ongoing tensions between the government and public sector unions over LARCO's future. The company, a major employer in the region, faces potential restructuring and job cuts.
