Restaurants, bars and cafes in Greece to reopen after Easter

Restaurants, bars and cafes in Greece will reopen after the Easter holiday, and will initially only serve customers outdoors, Greek Deputy Development Minister Nikos Papathanasis announced on Tuesday.

“The hospitality businesses will be allowed to reopen in outdoor and semi-open areas when the time is right. It appears that this will happen after the Easter holidays,” he said during an interview with MEGA.

“We have a country where food establishments can operate outdoors. Last year we started their operation outdoors first and this is probably how they will re-open again,” he added.

Tourism enterprises that offer restaurant and cafe services can operate, regardless of when the hospitality business sector is allowed to resume operation.

On Monday, small retail stores were allowed to operate under specific rules.

Under strict conditions, Greek City Times photographed Ermou Street, the main shopping pedestrian avenue in Athens, and the historic centre of Monastiraki on the first day of partial retail reopening.
