The meeting between Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh in Ramallah yesterday did not last long and did not end with the expected press conference.
The Palestinian embassy in Greece said it was a "good meeting".
Palestinian circles, however, have once again resented Nikos Dendias' statements as they say he blamed the violence solely on Hamas and justified Israel's air strikes as a "right of self-defense."
The Palestinian Foreign Minister, who Dendias was originally scheduled to meet with, was not present at the meeting.
In the short meeting, the Greek foreign minister simply repeated to the Palestinian Prime Minister that Greece, remaining faithful to the principles of International Law, supports the two state solution.
"It is obvious that Greece is crawling out of Israel and the Greek Foreign Minister wanted to go to the country to express his full support, something that his statements confirm," a diplomatic source told Sputnik Hellas.
"Obviously, Mr. Dendias also wanted to say something with his presence to Turkey," the source stressed, adding: "However, no progress in the bloody conflict was promoted by his visit, although it has been projected as a mini diplomatic mediation marathon."
