The Scorpions and Alice Cooper proved on Wednesday that rock is not dead and that it is on its way to glory again.
After all, you understood it at first glance, before you even passed the gates of the Olympic Stadium.
The image of the evergreen 60-year-olds with their families in the stands and the 20-year-olds in the arena in the early afternoon and in the unbearable heat was proof that rock unites entire generations.
The approximately 30,000 spectators experienced literally magical moments on Wednesday.
A Greek flag first flying on the giant screen and then wrapping around the bodies of the Scorpions - a sign of the special love they have for Greek audience that loves them and shows it practically at every opportunity, got the night rocking.
The concert started at 19:30 and while the sun was still high in the Attic sky, Alice Cooper went on stage to a standing ovation.
Being in great physical and vocal shape, he wowed the crowds, performing the well-known 'Poison'.
After a half hour break, just before 10pm, Scorpions took the stage with a huge Greek flag in the background and Klaus Meine saying in fluent Greek "good evening Athens" and asking the crowd "what are you doing?".
For about two hours the legendary Scorpions once again gave their best and did not spoil anything by performing most of their big hits.
It was the 27th in a row that they have been on Greek soil, proving, for the umpteenth time, that there is a strong, unshakable bond between them and the Greek public.
And how each time they leave with the promise that they will soon return.
