British nationals arrested in Greece over 300kg cocaine destined for Australia, Europe

Four British national have been arrested over 300kg of cocaine found in an banana shipment from South America, reported Sky News.

According to the news report, on Friday the suspects were arrested at a house near the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki on drug smuggling charges. Aged 38, 45, 48 and 52, the suspects have not been identified yet but Greek authorities have confirmed they are from London and Liverpool.

The seized drugs, estimated to be worth over US$50 million had been bound for  Thessaloniki as well as Australia and other European countries.

A video showed the four men, one of whom appeared to have his face covered, being led into a building while in handcuffs.

The arrests come following an international law enforcement operation, which involved Italian customs authorities and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
