2 arrests for attacks on police officers on Saturday night in Exarchia

Two men, aged 38 and 31, were arrested last night in Exarchia by police officers of the Sub-Directorate for the Restoration of Order, accused of violence against employees, disturbing the public peace, attempting to cause simple bodily harm as an accomplice, as well as violating the law about weapons.

In particular, according to the police, the defendants, participating in 2 groups of approximately 40 people and having their facial features covered, launched attacks against platoons on duty in the area of ​​Exarchia, throwing stones, glass bottles, firecrackers and other objects at them.

The defendants strongly resisted their arrest, while during the arrest of the 31-year-old, people who were near the place of arrest, attacked again by throwing chairs, glass bottles and glasses at the police forces.

Those arrested with the case filed against them by the Sub-Directorate of State Security of the Attica Security Directorate, were taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
