- The annual Taste Atlas list is out for 2023, rating national cuisines and dishes from around the globe. Two categories are included: the 100 Best Dishes and the 100 Best Cuisines in the World.
According to the awards, Greek cuisine takes a well-deserved second place worldwide, with only Italian and Japanese cuisines tied for first. The score awarded to Greek cuisine by Taste Atlas is a respectable 4.64, with an excellent 5 as the maximum, while the Italian and Japanese leaders received only 4.65 points.
These results were compiled from an impressive collection of user ratings: 395,205 for dishes and 115,660 for edible products. The national cuisines that made it onto the top 100 list are those whose best dishes and products received the highest overall scores.
Dakos: Greece's Most Delicious
Greek cuisine also shines in the 100 Best Dishes category. The 17th spot belongs to the beloved dakos, making it the most delicious Greek dish according to Taste Atlas. Following closely behind are ribs in 26th place, juvetsi in 64th, round in 69th, kokoretsi in 79th, kleftiko in 90th, and souvlaki rounding out the Greek entries in 95th place.
The top of the best dishes list is a diverse blend of culinary delights, with Brazilian Picanha meat, Malaysian Roti Canai bread, and exotic Thai Phat Kaphrao stir fry taking the crown.
