This surge reflects the rapid adoption of electric vehicles, with battery-only electric cars now making up 14.6% of new registrations across the EU, a substantial jump from just 1% in 2018.
However, Greece remains at the lower end of this trend. As of December 31, 2023, battery-only electric cars represented only 0.2% of all passenger cars in the country, a stark contrast to higher adoption rates in Denmark (7.1%), Sweden (5.9%), Luxembourg (5.1%), and the Netherlands (5.0%). Greece shares this low percentage with Cyprus and Poland.
