US Ambassador George Tsunis praised Greece's recovery from the 2010-18 financial and austerity crisis, describing it as an "economic miracle" that has drawn investors from the United States and around the world. Speaking at the Athens Riviera Forum 2024, he highlighted that "The US has rediscovered Greece," crediting Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for attracting increased Foreign Direct Investment, including from American companies that were previously hesitant.
Tsunis emphasized Greece's ongoing economic transformation and expressed pride in serving as ambassador in the land of his family's heritage, fostering bilateral relations. According to the state Athens-Macedonia News Agency, he noted, "Our cooperation is flourishing across all sectors and levels, benefiting both the US and Greece." Tsunis also highlighted Greece's highly skilled workforce as a significant draw for major corporations.
