Greece has reportedly suggested to India joint negotiations with French aircraft company Dassault Aviation to boost bargaining power and lower the price per jet.

"India is currently evaluating Greece's proposal. Factors like the potential cost benefits, delivery schedules, and any logical complexities associated with a joint negotiation will likely be part of India's decision-making process," reported the Indian Defence Research Wing.

Athens and New Delhi have begun cooperation in more sectors following a visit to Athens by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Greece's Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis going to Delhi, where he asked for India to play a leading role in international partnerships.

"We view India as one of the main pillars of stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region," Mitsotakis said after his talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi in February. "This is certainly true for my country."

Recently, four Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force were stationed at the 117 Fighter Wing in Andravida. On 22 June, they conducted their first joint training with the Greek French-made Rafale and Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets of the 335 and 336 Squadrons from the 114th Fighter Wing.

At the same time, four Greek F-16s will be dispatched to India in September for military exercises as part of efforts to strengthen the Athens-New Delhi defence axis.
