Police in Cyprus discovered the remains of a six-year-old girl who is believed to be the seventh victim of serial killer Nikos Metaxas.
The young victim Sierra Granze was found at the bottom of lake Memi, southwest of the capital Nicosia.
Fire Department Chief Marcos Trangolas told The Associated Press that the remains, which were wrapped in a bed sheet and tied by rope to a cement block, were found yesterday among reeds six metres down the lake that was part of a former copper pyrite mine.
“Human remains have been found and forensic pathologists are on the scene,” a police spokesman said.
Army captain Nikos Metaxas was arrested in April this year on suspicion of the killings and after his arrest, Metaxasadmitted killing five women and two of their young daughters.
35-year-old Metaxas was taken to the lake and according to local media, he claims to have thrown the young girl’s body in the lake after murdering her mother Mary Rose Tiburcio.
