Greece has registered 624 coronavirus cases and 15 deaths

Greece confirmed 94 new cases on Sunday, its largest single-day jump, taking its total to 624, with 15 fatalities to date.

Greek Health Ministry spokesperson and infectious diseases expert, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras noted that most cases are in Athens.

Of the 624, 124 are hospitalised, 34 of them in intensive care units. Most of those hospitalised have serious underlying conditions.

Of the 15 fatalities, 14 had underlying conditions.

On Saturday, the funeral of the 66-year-old retired professor, the first person in Greece to succumb to coronavirus (COVID-19), took place.

Effective from 6 a.m. on Monday 23rd March, in an attempt to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus, Greece will go into lockdown.
