Government extends suspension of church services

The Greek government announced on Sunday the current suspension of operation of all places of worship, will be extended.

The joint announcement by the Education and Religion and Health Ministries declared that the suspension will be extended to April 11.

The decision said that the extension of the measure is necessary for the protection of the public health against the spread of the coronavirus.

The announcement comes after the Archbishop’s plea to the government last week to permit the operation of liturgies by priests, albeit, behind closed doors without public attendance.
