“It’s Go Time, It’s My Time, It’s Ferocious Time.”

After being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, George ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos Jr is ready, willing, prepared to fight former IBF Featherweight champ Lee Selby.

“Finally October 31 [November 1 in Australia], we are going head to head. I’m super excited and can’t wait. It’s a world title eliminator. It’s one fight away from a world title fight, and we know the business we are going to do with this guy.”

Even though the ‘battle in the boxing ring’ was delayed by more than six months, ‘Ferocious’ has not stopped training or staying focused.

“I’ve just been focused and I’ve been training extremely hard throughout the pandemic. I feel like I’m stronger, I’m faster, I’m more explosive. My whole team, my coaches, they are saying that they can see it. Physically you can see I’m stronger, and I feel great. I’m 27 years of age, I’ve really come into my prime now. I’ve stayed focused and am hungry in the gym. I’ve continued training. Come October 31, that’s it. No more postponements, there is no more, this fight is going to happen. I can’t wait, I’m excited for this fight,” he said.

The fight with Selby will be held behind closed doors (without spectators), something that both fighters have never experienced before. But George doesn’t believe that this will affect his performance or the experience of the fans. If anything, they get the best seat in the house as they will be able to hear George’s shots a lot cleaner.

“Whatever way we gonna meet, it’s going to be in the ring, and that’s all that matters.”

“Like I said, throughout this whole global pandemic, I was just focused on Lee Shelby. It doesn’t matter if there is a crowd or no crowd, doesn’t matter where it is, I’m just focused on fighting Lee Shelby. I’m happy that he is going to be the other man on the other side of the ring, and I’m going to do the business against him,” George continued.

Preparing for ‘battle’ is not just about being physically ready, but also mentally. A million things run through each boxer’s mind when they step into the ring. As he and his opponent square off, they both think of how to defeat the other as quickly and as efficiently as possible, while taking the minimum amount of damage as possible.

When the mind is clear, the boxer is sharper and more alert.

“Mentally I’m a very strong fighter. I know exactly the vision that I have. Anyone that knows me, knows that I have such a strong mental side. It’s not only the physical, the way I train, but it’s also how mentally strong I am, it is second to none,” the Greek Australian boxer said.
