In honour of Earth Day, new trees have been planted in Elena Venizelou Square, Athens.

Earth Day is a global event that involves world climate leaders, grassroots activists, non-profit innovators, thought leaders, industry leaders, artists, musicians, influencers, and the leaders of tomorrow designed to inspire all of us to push towards a better world.

This year’s Earth Day theme is 'Restore Our Earth', which focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems.

"For tomorrow's World Earth Day, we are sending a message with action. We are planting new trees in Elena Venizelou Square. And we do not stop here. In all Municipal Communities, we plant the 400 trees offered to us by @we4all_official. We thank her for joining forces with the Municipality of Athens," Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis posted.
