“John Wick: Chapter 4” director Chad Stahelski  has promised more mythology in what is the longest installment of the franchise reported Variety magazine.

“I love mythology,” Stahelski told Variety at the red carpet for “Day Shift” on Wednesday night.

“I love a good myth. I don’t really believe — at least for the ‘John Wick’ movies — in a three-act structure. I believe in storytelling and leaving it. You know, we’ve always seen John Wick as Odysseus. So we take the time we need to tell the story. As long as we don’t fall asleep watching it, we keep it going. But I guess there is a bathroom limit.”

The upcoming American neo-noir action thriller film which is serving as the direct sequel to 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, directed by Chad Stahelski, with a script co-written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch, and based on characters created by Derek Kolstad,  is produced by Stahelski, Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. Starring Keanu Reeves returning as the title character, the film is produced by Thunder Road Pictures and 87North Productions.

Distributed by Lionsgate, the film is set to be theatrically released in the United States on March 24, 2023. Originally set for release on May 21, 2021, the film was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and partially due to Reeves' commitments with The Matrix Resurrections.
