Having the pre-marked banknotes in his hand, a 32-year-old British tourist was arrested early Monday afternoon in the Ammoudara area of Malevizi Municipality for extortion against a well-known local businessman.

According to Creta Live, the 32-year-old is in Crete on vacation. He was staying in a hotel in the Ammoudara area, and during his stay in the area, he visited a particular restaurant for entertainment.

The report states that on the night in question, he had a casual conversation with the waiter, who at one point started teasing him with a cake sparkler, resulting, as the Brit complained, in causing him a burn.

The 32-year-old went to the Malevizi Police Station to file charges for simple bodily harm against both the waiter and the business owner. In addition, he allegedly complained that alcohol was also served to a minor.

The lawsuits were one side of the coin as the case had other ramifications. This time, the businessman requested the assistance of the police, complaining that the 32-year-old tourist was blackmailing him, demanding money.

More specifically, it was reported that after the lawsuits about the sparkler cake, the British man began to threaten the businessman that he would drag him online, hurting him professionally, if he did not pay him 5,000 euros.

He allegedly threatened to destroy him professionally with various defamations he would make on the Internet, causing the owner to panic.

In the end, under the instructions of the police officers of A.T. Maleviziou, he appeared to give in but suggested that he give the sum of 1,500 euros in the first phase. The appointment was made in front of the hotel where the 32-year-old was staying.

As soon as he received the envelope with the pre-marked banknotes, police officers appeared and arrested him.
