PAOK Clinches the Super League Championship with Victory over Aris

PAOK secured their fourth championship in history by defeating Aris 2-1 on the road, narrowly surpassing defending champion AEK by two points in a thrilling climax to the Super League season.

In a tense derby match against their local rivals at Kleanthis Vilkelidis, PAOK managed to clinch their second league title in the last six seasons despite playing with 10 men for the final 17 minutes. The game saw Brandon Thomas give PAOK the lead in the first half, only for Aris to equalize through a spectacular Loren Moron strike early in the second half. However, a superb team effort by PAOK, starting with Giannis Konstantelias and culminating in a crucial goal from Brazilian midfielder Taison, sealed the victory and the title half an hour before the end.

Despite a red card shown to Giannis Michailidis in the 78th minute, PAOK successfully fended off Aris' attempts to deny them the championship, ultimately claiming a memorable triumph with only 10 players on the field.

AEK, on the other hand, had to settle for second place after securing a 3-0 home win against Lamia, with goals from Robert Ljubicic, Steven Zuber, and Damian Szymanski. Olympiakos, after a dramatic 2-2 draw against Panathinaikos, finished third in the league, ensuring a European qualification for the next season.

The final standings in the Super League playoffs were as follows: PAOK 80 points, AEK 78 points, Olympiakos 74 points, Panathinaikos 72 points, Aris 55 points, and Lamia 35 points.

PAOK will advance to the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, while AEK and Olympiakos are set to compete in the upcoming season's Conference League, unless Olympiakos wins the current season's Conference League final on May 29, earning them a spot in the Europa League next season.
