Beloved Australian actor Lex Marinos has passed away at 75, as announced by his family. Known for his prominent roles as Bruno in the 1980s series Kingswood Country and Malinos in The Slap, the Wagga Wagga-born star was surrounded by family and the soothing sounds of Bob Dylan at the time of his death.

Marinos, the son of a Greek immigrant, enjoyed a remarkable five-decade-long career in Australia’s entertainment industry, wearing hats as an actor, director, writer, and radio presenter. His contributions went beyond acting; he was a cherished voice on Double Jay and a fervent advocate for diversity in Australian media.

His passing was shared by his family on social media with a heartfelt message: “To our dear friends, colleagues, and favorite people. It is with heavy hearts we let you know that Lex passed away peacefully on Friday morning. He died at home, at a moment of his choosing, surrounded by family and the sounds of Bob Dylan accompanying our vigil. There was so much love in the room.”

In recognition of his service to the performing arts, Marinos was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 1994. He also played influential roles with several cultural organizations, including the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, The Australia Council, and the Community Broadcasting Foundation.

Later this year, Wagga Wagga’s Museum of the Riverina will host an exhibition titled The Lex Factor: From Wagga to the World Stage, celebrating his significant contributions to the field.
