A significant temperature drop across Greece is bringing the first snows of the season to some cities this weekend, according to meteorologists. A polar jet stream is ushering in cold air and gusty winds, with temperatures expected to fall well below 10°C (50°F) in many urban areas. Northern and central plains will see lows around -3°C (27°F) to 3°C (37°F). While rainfall is expected to decrease, snow is possible in some cities within the next few hours, although significant accumulation is not predicted.

This dramatic temperature plunge, as much as 10°C (18°F) in some areas, will be felt nationwide by Saturday evening. Major cities like Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, and Patras will see temperatures below 10°C (50°F) on Sunday and Monday mornings. Strong northerly winds, potentially reaching 9 Beaufort, will exacerbate the cold and disrupt sea travel. However, conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday, with diminishing winds, clearer skies, and rising temperatures.
