The suspect, who had been the subject of numerous complaints, was detained on the night of Sunday, January 26th, 2025. Authorities believe the man is responsible for at least eight incidents of harassment over recent months.
The arrest followed an investigation by the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.), who used a female officer as part of a strategy to capture the perpetrator. The police were able to gather evidence through videos and photos provided by local residents and businesses. National Police spokesperson Constantia Demoglidou confirmed that these materials, along with a detailed description from one of the victims, played a key role in locating the suspect.
According to reports, the harasser's activities extended beyond Peristeri, with some incidents also occurring in the neighboring area of Petroupoli. The man allegedly approached his victims while exposing himself and chased them with his pants down.
A mother whose daughter was a victim of the man shared her experience with the media. She reported that the first incident occurred approximately two and a half years ago when her daughter was returning from tutoring. “He jumped in front of her with his pants down and chased her home,” the mother said. She also mentioned that a second incident occurred in October, involving another victim. "We called the police, but he had already disappeared by the time they arrived," she added, suggesting that the perpetrator might live nearby.
The arrest of the suspect has brought some relief to the local community, which had expressed growing concern over the incidents. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are encouraging any additional victims or witnesses to come forward.
