According to the European Mediterranean Center, a 6.1 Richter earthquake has just hit between the centre of Kythera and Chania at around 9:25 am on Wednesday 27th of November, 2019.

The earthquake was mostly felt in Chania and according to locals from the city, it lasted for several seconds.

It also shook parts of the Peloponesse, Athens, Lefkada and all the way through to the Dodecanese islands.

No reports of injuries or damages have been made.

Professor Efthimios Lekkas told Skai news that this seems to be the main earthquake and the seismologist also said he does not expect it to continue or for there to be any aftershocks. Lekkas also made it clear that this earthquake "has absolutely nothing to do with the deadly vibration that shook Albania yesterday."
