Turkey’s Interior Ministry announced the closure of its land border posts with Greece and Bulgaria as of midnight Wednesday, as part of measures against the novel coronavirus.

Affected are the border posts of Edirne (Adrianoupoli) and Kirklareli (Saranta Eklisies), to and from Greece and Bulgaria, respectively reports Turkish news agency Anadolu.

According to the Ministry, Greek and Bulgarian citizens are banned from entry into Turkey through either land or sea with ports also mutually suspended with both the Greek mainland and islands.

Exempt from the ban was freight transportation.
