Following the 2024 U.S. presidential elections, 42 elected officials of Greek descent were chosen across 20 states, including six members of Congress, five General Officers, 12 State Senators, and 19 State Representatives. Notable re-elections include Gus Bilirakis (R-Florida), Nicole Malliotakis (R-New York), Dina Titus (D-Nevada), and Chris Pappas (D-New Hampshire), with new additions Maggie Goodlander (D-New Hampshire) and Mike Haridopolos (R-Florida). Greek-American representation also grew at the state level, with key figures like Eleni Kounalakis (D-California) as Lieutenant Governor and Alexi Giannoulias (D-Illinois) as Secretary of State. These officials are committed to strengthening the voice of the Greek-American community in both national and state politics.
A number of Australian Hellenes have been honored at the St George Community Awards for their exceptional contributions to the community. The awards recognized volunteers who have dedicated their time and talents to promoting Greek culture, education, and music.
Students at St Andrews Grammar in WA are preparing to form a massive ‘human Greek flag’ to show support for Greek tennis players at the United Cup, which will be held at RAC Arena later this month. Over 600 students from the state’s only Greek Orthodox school will participate in the event, which coincides with the tour of the United Cup trophy. Principal Craig Monaghan hopes the initiative will inspire a new generation of tennis players while fostering excitement around the tournament.
