Archbishop Stylianos Remembered on Fifth Anniversary of Passing

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the passing of His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos Harkianakis, the former head of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

Archbishop Stylianos, a pillar of the Australian Greek Orthodox community, passed away on March 25, 2019, at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with illness.

A Legacy of Leadership and Service:

He served as the inaugural and permanent Chairman of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Churches in Australia, fostering unity among Orthodox denominations. He was also the founding Dean of Saint Andrew's Greek Orthodox Theological College, playing a crucial role in theological education.

Born in Rethymno, Crete, on December 29, 1935, Archbishop Stylianos's life was dedicated to faith and service. The Archdiocese of Australia's announcement of his passing on March 25, 2019, was met with deep sadness throughout the community.
